The beach is an amazing place to be both for work or recreation, but this can all go seriously wrong in a matter of seconds.

Rip currents

 

 

A rip current is a build up of water pressure from incoming waves producing a channel like retreat for the water.

This produces a river like effect between the waves as the water retreats back into the ocean. check out our rip current does and donts below

Casuakty does not swim far enough out of the rip current and gets swept back in

Casualty should:

Swim parallel with the beach until they are clear of the rip current and be aware of feeder currents

 

 

Casulaty attempts to swim directly back agains the rip current to shore

Casualty should:

swim parallel to the beach

 

 

Casualty does not call for help or calls to late

Casualty should:

Call and signal for help as soon as the danger is realised

 

 

Beach Flags

 

Beach flags should all be the same but vary from country to country here are some flags for your safety both regional and international remember always check the flag or ask a lifeguard before entering the water
