About us

Dedicated to the teaching and training of water safety and rescue

Lanzarote Lifeguard was established in 2011 with a view to educating local people in the skills needed to save a life.

Our team is made up of watermen and women who share in the same passion, the water.

Lanzarote is a paradise island of sea, sand and surf but with this beauty there is also an underlying danger for people who simply have lack of understanding about open water. This includes swimming pools, lakes, rivers and quarries.

Over the past few years we have been able to educate not just the local population but also reaching many people all over the planet.

Paul Cardwell Hounam

RLSS UK instructor

From the UK Paul has many years experience in water safety and aquatic teaching. Starting very young Paul then 14 found himself volunteering at his local swimming pool as an assistent. Loving the job so much Paul continued to follow a path in Lifesaving and teaching with the ASA and RLSS UK.

At 16 he became an RLSS UK pool lifeguard and ASA swimming instructor. since then he has never looked back. Paul has an unquenchable thirst for lifeguarding and lifesaving and with a goal of becoming a beach lifeguard from a very early age realised his dream and became the coordinator for the red cross run beaches in Puerto Del Carmen. From teaching the RLSS UK rookie lifeguard scheme to open water swim coaching Pauls knowledge of the water and surrounding areas is incredible with other main rolls teaching Swimming, surfing, stand up paddling and many RLSS UK courses.

If you have any questions regarding Lifesaving and the sea give Paul a call and he will always be glad to help.
